Laurie E. Reynolds is a partner in the Oakland office and a member of the firm's Management Committee. In this capacity, she provides oversight and direction for the firm's operations. Ms. Reynolds is a recognized leader in the firm's student and special education practice area. Additionally, she is an expert on the laws affecting public entities in California, including the Brown Act and the Public Records Act. Ms. Reynolds has advised governing boards regarding conflicts of interest, political activities and the emerging issues related to social media, electronic communication and the Public Records Act.
Ms. Reynolds has over 20 years experience and an impressive record representing school districts in due process hearings and mediation conferences.
Ms. Reynolds regularly presents workshops for board members and school administrators in the areas of special education, student discipline and other student issues. She has presented on these topics at the Association of California School Administrators' annual conferences, the Council for Exceptional Children's fall conferences, before the California School Boards Association and for numerous public school districts throughout California.
Ms. Reynolds received her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where she served on the Moot Court Board and as Note Editor for the Communications and Entertainment Law Journal (COMM/ENT). She was admitted to the California State Bar in 1990. She earned her bachelor's degree in Government from the University of Notre Dame.
Ms. Reynolds has two children who attend public schools in the Bay Area.
