José Mendoza is an associate in the Inland Empire office. Mr. Mendoza assists clients in a variety of areas, including Governance & Leadership, Higher Education, Labor & Employment, Special Education, and Litigation matters.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Mendoza clerked at a firm that represents American Indian tribes assisting with matters of jurisdiction, business regulation, tribal gaming, and economic development. Mr. Mendoza also clerked with the Enforcement Division of the California Fair Political Practices Commission, evaluating referrals for violations of the Political Reform Act and the Office of the Sacramento City Attorney, advising on a variety issues, including tort liability, contract disputes, and special accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act. During law school, Mr. Mendoza also clerked for a law firm that specializes in political law, assisting on election and campaign compliance matters. In that position, Mr. Mendoza also had the opportunity to assist public school districts with state audits.
Mr. Mendoza earned his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis, School of Law, where he was an Articles Editor of the UC Davis Law Review, was a Diversity Fellow with the Sacramento County Bar Association and the alumni relations chair of the UC Davis La Raza Law Students Association. He holds both an M.A. in Political Science, American Politics, as well as a B.A. in Political Science, American Politics, both from California State University, Los Angeles. Mr. Mendoza is fluent in Spanish.
