Lynn M. Beekman

Lynn M. Beekman is a partner in the San Diego office and a member of the Business & Facilities and Litigation Practice Groups.  Drawing from over 30 years of experience, she has represented clients in a myriad of litigation matters involving land use, real estate and environmental law, as well as business disputes of all kinds.

Just prior to joining the firm, Ms. Beekman worked for the City of San Diego in the Land Use Litigation Unit handling CEQA writs, eminent domain cases, Public Records Act suits, easement and ownership disputes, subsidence cases, assessment district challenges and a range of other land use litigation matters.  Prior to that Ms. Beekman represented school districts in contract disputes, construction defect cases, Public Records Act actions, school bond challenges, premises liability claims, mold investigations and CalSTRS’ disputes, among other matters.

Ms. Beekman was also previously affiliated with several boutique law firms focusing on real property/land use and business litigation.  During that timeframe she litigated real property, business and bankruptcy disputes on behalf of property owners, financial institutions and business owners, including eminent domain, zoning violations, CEQA writs, Conditional Use Permit issues, development agreements, boundary and easement challenges, leasehold disputes and title conflicts.

Having performed legal services for school districts, public agencies and private property owners, Ms. Beekman brings a unique perspective to the table and the courtroom.  Her goal is to assist districts in navigating transactions on the front end with an eye towards avoiding litigation but knowing that, in some instances, that is the only path to resolution.

Affiliations include the Association of Business Trial Lawyers (Board of Governors and Community Outreach Co-Chair) and the San Diego County Bar Association.  Ms. Beekman has contributed to legal and community service projects and organizations including The Informed Voter Project, the ABTL San Diego Law School Mock Trial Competition and the Dingeman Elementary School Faculty Family Connection Board and the Central Elementary Reading Program and Book Drive.

Ms. Beekman earned her Juris Doctor at University of San Diego School of Law and holds an undergraduate degree in English Literature (Critical Analysis) from San Diego State University.
