Brenda Arzate is an Associate in the firm’s Los Angeles office. She is a member of the Student Services and Special Education, Labor and Employment, Governance and Leadership, and Litigation practice groups. Brenda provides support to clients primarily with all aspects of special education law and practices, including administrative hearings, mediations, California Department of Education (CDE) complaints, and the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process. In addition, she assists clients in the areas of student records and discipline, labor & employment, governance and leadership, and litigation.
Prior to joining F3, Ms. Arzate worked with a Bay Area education law firm, advising and supporting school districts with student, special education, labor and employment, and litigation issues. She has represented school districts throughout employment and special education administrative hearings.
While attending undergrad and law school, Ms. Arzate worked for the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) managing projects of the Legal Department, Labor Relations, and the Office of Equity. She also completed a legal externship at SFUSD, focusing primarily on general student and special education matters. It was there that she gained the valuable and unique experience of knowing what her clients go through and the challenges they face daily. It was also where she found her love and passion for education law.
Ms. Arzate received her Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law, and her B.S. in Management from the University of San Francisco. While in law school, she completed an International Human Rights Law Summer Externship in Mexico and completed an intensive advocacy program where she learned litigation and trial techniques and strategies.
She is fluent in Spanish and enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking with her dog, and attending concerts in her free time.
