In the area of facilities, we have advised and litigated regarding bidding specifications and procedures, agreements (e.g., architect, program/project manager, construction), prevailing wage claims, the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and eminent domain. Relative to procurement, we have worked with school and community college districts on bidding specifications and procedures, and contracts. We have represented clients in administrative proceedings before various agencies, including the State Allocation Board, California Labor Commission and the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA).
The push toward sustainable building is on. The 21st century has been called the "century of the environment," with an urgency for schools to renovate, remodel and construct with green practices. Green action will help protect our environment, help our schools save money and model for our nation's youth a healthy lifestyle for the 21st century.
At F3 we realize the idea of implementing sustainability projects in the face of devastating budget cuts seems impossible, perhaps imprudent, but now is the time to take action. We are working with clients to provide legal advice on all aspects of integrating green practices in all public school construction, maintenance, repair and operational practices.
