Huntington Beach City School District has been recognized as a model in California and across the nation. By partnering with OpTerra Energy Services for a comprehensive energy program, the district won CSBA's Golden Bell "Going Green!" award, which brings a $5000 prize sponsored by F3. District leaders have brought benefits to the entire community by investing in sustainable, energy-efficient technology. Multiple energy conservation and renewable generation technologies, including the installation of more than one megawatt of solar capacity, HVAC improvements and new LED lighting maximize financial and environmental benefits for the district.
The program went beyond technical energy upgrades by directly tying the infrastructure improvements into classroom learning. District students were provided real world, hands on learning opportunities and teaching staff received professional develoment sessions and resources.
Representatives from Huntington Beach City School District are congratulated by Namita Brown and Chris Keeler, both partners with F3.
