Lisa M. Martin

Proudly serving clients in her wide-ranging legal practice, Lisa Martin focuses on helping public school districts on issues of labor and employment, governance and student services. In particular, she handles many matters and conflicts involving discipline and dismissals of teachers and other employees. In addition, Lisa conducts investigations into complaints against district employees and writes follow-up reports outlining her findings.

Always on the lookout for liability issues, Lisa assists school boards in keeping their policies and administrative regulations updated and compliant with an array of regulations. She relishes the chance to research and alert clients to potentially problematic language and to help them make changes that protect their interests.

In the student arena, Lisa helps clients with a full spectrum of issues, including student discipline and expulsion hearings. She particularly enjoys exploring cutting-edge issues—everything from free speech issues involving students and teachers to questions that arise surrounding transgender matters. Clients appreciate Lisa’s legal acumen, dedication, responsiveness and congeniality, as well as her calming presence and steady hand.

Lisa is the managing associate for the firm’s Inland Empire office. Prior to joining the firm, she focused on workers’ compensation litigation on behalf of insurance carriers, third-party administrators and employers. Additionally, she brings experience in conducting discovery, depositions and cross-examinations and appearing for conferences, hearings and trials. Lisa also spent several years working in the entertainment industry in a variety of roles.

While in law school, Lisa completed an externship with Prisoners’ Legal Services of New York, where she provided assistance to indigent individuals confined in New York State prisons, including juveniles incarcerated in adult prisons, to help them secure civil and human rights. She looks forward to performing more pro bono work in this field in the future.
