The Santa Clarita Valley Signal quoted Jessica Ehrlich in its article on a recent investigation at the College of the Canyons (COC). The investigation uncovered potential financial misconduct involving millions of dollars. During a special meeting of the Board of Trustees, Jessica noted that “These are large sums of money that we’re talking about. The district is the steward of this money. We protect the public fisc (treasury), and it’s our inherent duty to look into these allegations and claims when they’re brought to us.” She went on to say that the conduct was “… so egregious it requires our request here tonight to ask the board to retain a forensic accounting firm.”
The article disclosed that preliminary findings suggest approximately $8 million may have been misused across 700 projects, possibly for personal gain. At the meeting, the District’s Board of Trustees, which oversees COC, voted unanimously to investigate these allegations further and authorized a third-party forensic audit.
