Special Ed Connection® quoted Gretchen Shipley in its article on recording IEP meetings. The article discusses considerations when parents suggest recording a meeting using AI note-taking tools. Gretchen commented that “It’s inevitable that artificial intelligence note-taking tools will be incorporated into many school district processes and procedures, including IEP meetings…But districts have to make sure parents are cognizant of privacy and consent issues. There has to be some review of accuracy because AI’s manipulating and packaging the information.” She went on to share several helpful tips covering accuracy, consent, and privacy that should help IEP teams determine whether allowing the recording is the best option in a particular situation.
