A recent award of funds through the Golden State Pathways Program will help prepare Sonoma County students for their post-high school lives.
The Golden State Pathways Program was established to promote expanded career pathways and support students transitioning from high school to college and career. The Golden State Pathways Program supports the efforts of local educational agencies (LEAs) and higher education institutions, employers, and the community in the expansion of college and career paths. The expanded paths include high-wage, high skill workforces like jobs in the areas of technology, health care, education and climate.
“A growing body of research shows that students engage more deeply with school when they feel what they are learning in the classroom aligns with their goals for after they graduate,” said Amie Carter, Sonoma County superintendent of schools, in the release.
“By ensuring our career-focused pathways also ground students in core academic disciplines, we can improve access to both college and career opportunities while engaging them in highly relevant learning,” she said.
