What can I solve for you?

With my three decades of experience, across districts large and small and roles spanning special education, HR, labor relations and executive leadership, I help attorneys better understand what truly matters to education leaders. I also identify opportunities to strengthen relationships, and shape firm educational programs and thought leadership, while serving as an informal resource for members of this community I love.

What's it like to work with me?

I’m a relationship person. I am calm, direct, practical and logical, but with a healthy dose of humor when appropriate. As I understand firsthand the challenges, public scrutiny and stress that school administrators face, I am also always happy to be an informal sounding board or thought partner for administrators navigating difficult situations. If I can use my experience and network to help you, I will, including helping to connect you with the right F3 attorney when a situation calls for legal guidance.

Overview

Amy Buster Baer is a member of the firm’s Marketing & Business Development team, bringing the unique perspective of a seasoned public education executive with extensive experience serving school districts and education communities. She focuses on building and strengthening relationships with education leaders, helping the firm understand and respond to the needs of its education clients, identifying opportunities for F3 to expand its support and partnerships, and shaping thought leadership and conference programming.

Having spent her career working within school districts, Amy understands what education leaders need from outside counsel and what makes a strong attorney-client relationship. In fact, she first came to know F3 Law when the firm served as outside counsel to districts she led, giving her a unique understanding of F3 from the client perspective. She particularly understands the importance of engaging the right expertise early.

Most recently, Amy served as Associate Superintendent of Human Resources for San Francisco Unified School District, leading HR strategy and operations for a workforce of more than 9,000 employees. As a cabinet-level executive in four different school districts, she led labor relations through complex negotiations and a districtwide strike, modernized HR systems and processes, and worked across departments to address significant organizational and workforce challenges.

Prior to SFUSD, Amy held leadership roles in other California school districts, including Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Executive Director of Student Support Services in San Rafael City Schools, as well as leadership roles in student services and special education in Novato and Berkeley. She began her career as a school psychologist, giving her a perspective that spans student services, special education, human resources, labor relations, district operations and executive leadership.

After School

I have two teenage children who are heavily involved in sports, so I spend a lot of time driving to soccer and golf events. I also love animals and am involved with rescue, particularly of senior French Bulldogs.
