What can I solve for you?

I help school districts address a wide range of issues in education law, including but not limited to labor and employment, facilities and construction, and governance and leadership. Drawing on my legal and practical experience, I work closely with districts to provide solutions that are efficient and tailored to the unique needs of each client. I take pride in helping districts address challenges proactively, supporting their efforts to serve students, staff, and the broader community.

What's it like to work with me?

I understand that the goal of school districts is to educate students, and I am passionate about helping them focus on that mission. I approach every challenge with collaboration, organization, and a solutions-oriented mindset. I work to clarify complex questions, anticipate needs, and offer practical guidance, while building strong, reliable relationships with clients through responsive and thoughtful support.

Overview

Riya helps clients navigate student, employee, and facilities-related matters. Specifically, she works with districts in the areas of labor and employment, facilities and construction, and governance and leadership.

She is dedicated to helping districts support students in reaching their full potential, bringing a steady, solutions-oriented approach to every project. She combines a passion for legal research and writing with a genuine commitment to partnering with districts to address the practical questions and challenges they encounter daily. Most importantly, Riya ensures that districts can rely on her to communicate clearly and accurately.

During law school, Riya served as a student attorney in the Individual Representation Clinic at the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco. She managed two cases from initial intake through oral advocacy before a judge, gaining meaningful client-counseling experience. She also worked in the Legal Startup Garage, where she supported an education nonprofit on matters at the intersection of law, innovation, and education. Riya furthered her interest in the education sector as a summer clerk at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles. As part of the Economic Stability Workgroup’s Student Loans team, she gained hands-on experience supporting clients through complex administrative challenges. Across these experiences, Riya has demonstrated a consistent commitment to practical, thoughtful, and public-agency focused legal work.

After School

After school, you can usually find me unwinding with a good yoga flow, reading a fiction book, or seeing new music artists. I also love travelling, and I’m on a mission to visit all seven continents. I have two left!
