What can I solve for you?

With over 41 years of experience, I can offer a wealth of expertise in school district administration and human resources, which includes guiding districts through a full spectrum of HR services. This support can vary from department audits and investigations to leadership coaching, professional development and system development. I will bring a unique combination of technical proficiency, leadership, and hands-on experience that can support districts of any size in building stronger HR frameworks and improving overall performance.

What's it like to work with me?

HR is not only my life’s work, but a true passion of mine. I consider it to be one of the most complex, toughest and most important jobs out there. School district HR administrators are not only the first line of defense but also the conscience of the district, making the tough calls and often delivering tough news. Doing this correctly requires training. I understand this because I formerly sat in their chair. In my current role, I can usually be found sitting right next to them, on-site, serving as a trusted partner and mentor.

Overview

Sherri Beetz brings a rare depth and breadth of experience in school district administration and particularly HR—drawing upon her more than 41 years of experience in this industry, including 20 years as an Assistant District Superintendent. She focuses her consultancy on investigations, department audits, coaching, professional and systems development, for k-12 school districts of all sizes throughout Northern California.

Whether she is on a short assignment, or ‘seconding’ with a school district for a year, Sherri assists school district clients with the full range of their HR needs. She might be brought in to mentor a new HR director or assistant superintendent, to conduct an audit, or to train administrators on such things as interviewing, hiring or investigations. She is especially interested in and adept at the technical aspects of HR, and in helping districts to create systems that not only help to ensure legal compliance, but also best HR practices for efficiency and excellence.

As former Assistant Superintendent, HR for the Castro Valley Unifed School District, Sherri oversaw personnel matters for 1000 employees, and was responsible for all aspects of recruitment and hiring; employee training and professional development; employee discipline and termination; and negotiation for classified and certificated bargaining. Over the course of her career, in various districts, she has also served as teacher, Vice Principal and Principal, among other roles.
Sherri also serves as Director and Presenter of various with the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Academies, including the seven month Personnel Academy for aspiring administrators and the Human Resources Boot Camp. In other geographic areas, she is also often called upon to serve as an expert witness on educational human resources issues.

After School

Because I found something I love to do and made that my job, I sometimes have to make a conscious effort to carve out time for other enjoyable things. But I enjoy traveling and exercise, particularly hiking---which is a good thing, because I also love to bake.
