Zakiyah Bradford

What can I solve for you?

I help employers build healthier, more productive workplaces and reduce employment risk. That means spotting disengagement and dissatisfaction early and fixing it before it becomes a problem. I also advise on sound HR practices, guide sensitive personnel decisions, and resolve labor and employment disputes when they arise.

What's it like to work with me?

You will be heard. I start by understanding your challenges and goals, then build a strategy around them. I also see the humanity in everyone involved, even when someone has technically done something wrong. Employment issues are rarely black and white, and that perspective helps me find solutions others miss.

Overview

Having seen a date scribbled on a form alter the entire underlying strategy of a case, Zakiyah Bradford never loses sight of the details. This labor and employment litigator and counselor helps clients navigate the full range of workforce challenges, including employee discipline, discrimination and retaliation claims, disability accommodations, harassment, administrative and agency proceedings, and other workplace disputes. Her experience also extends to the labor-relations side of employment, including union matters, disciplinary proceedings, wage-and-hour issues, contract negotiation and formation, grievances, arbitration and mediation.

Zakiyah brings an unusually broad perspective to her practice, having worked across the employment landscape as Employment Litigation Counsel at security company Inter-Con Security Systems; as a labor and employment associate at a law firm; and for nearly four years as a Senior Employee Relations and EEO Compliance Specialist at Amtrak.

At Amtrak, Zakiyah also served as a union disciplinary hearing officer, presiding over disciplinary proceedings involving union members. Her combined experience gives her a practical understanding of employment issues from the perspectives of both employers and employees, and an appreciation for the legal, operational and human considerations that shape workplace disputes.

After School

I love to read, write and dance. I’m also a published author and a multiple gold medalist in competitive ballroom dancing.
