Known and trusted by education leaders throughout Kern County and the broader Central Valley, Melissa Brown returns to legal practice with deep regional roots and firsthand experience supporting California public schools as both an attorney and district leader.
F3 Law is pleased to announce that Melissa Brown has joined the firm. Many Kern County superintendents, HR directors, and school district leaders already know Melissa as a trusted advisor and colleague. Her arrival also marks an exciting milestone for the firm as we establish a Bakersfield office, expanding our ability to serve districts throughout Kern County while building on our longstanding presence in the Central Valley through our Fresno office.
Melissa’s connection to public education runs deep. Coming from a family of educators, including a father and grandfather who both served as local superintendents, she has dedicated her career to supporting California schools as both an attorney and a school district leader. That experience, combined with her service as a past president of the California Council of School Attorneys, gives her a perspective and understanding of public education that few attorneys can match.
Now back in active legal practice, Melissa will focus on labor and employment matters, including collective bargaining, personnel investigations, discipline, leaves of absence, and the full employee life cycle, as well as governance and CPRA matters. Her clients will also have access to the full strength of F3 Law’s multidisciplinary team, allowing districts to turn to a single trusted firm for the wide range of issues they face.
“Melissa’s arrival is a natural extension of the relationships F3 Law has built across the Central Valley for years. She’s not learning this world from the outside; she grew up in it, then spent her career in it, and her presence in the Bakersfield area means we can show up for Kern County districts in an even more meaningful way,” said F3 Law Managing Partner Namita Brown.
