What can I solve for you?

Drawing on an ability to grasp concepts quickly, a strong work ethic, effective communication skills and a passion for the mission of public education, I counsel clients on a wide range of issues that arise in student services, student discipline and special education.

What's it like to work with me?

A quote by Martin Luther King, Jr. resonates with me: "Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education." I truly enjoy being part of a team that makes a positive difference in the world by seeking to achieve the goal of “true education.” As a collaborator by nature, I’m most effective when I’m making connections, building relationships, and working in tandem with people who share a passion for helping our public schools function at their highest level.

Overview

Focusing on issues of due process in education law, Austin Jones provides advice to school districts and other public agencies in the areas of student services, student discipline and special education. When clients encounter issues and conflicts arising under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Austin helps them craft appropriate responses and fulfill the legislation’s requirement that public schools provide “free and appropriate education” to all students, regardless of ability.

Austin relishes the chance to combine his legal acumen with the insight and skills of his team and tackle multifaceted problems and issues. As a quick study, he’s always eager to learn more and delve deeper while building rapport and trust with clients and colleagues alike.

Prior to joining F3, Austin practiced at a small California law office, where he drafted pleadings surrounding workers’ compensation defense issues, conducted depositions and appeared in court on behalf of employers in workers’ compensation disputes. In addition, he honed his outstanding legal research skills, which he draws on daily and applies to his current clients’ advantage.

Austin also previously clerked with the Orange County Public Defender’s Office. During law school at Chapman University, Austin served as the senior symposium editor for the Diversity and Social Justice Forum, as well as the president of the Public Interest Law Foundation.
