Overview

A dedicated and passionate advocate, Chas Griffin represents Illinois school districts in employment, insurance, and general liability disputes, litigating cases in state and federal courts and agencies like the Office for Civil Rights (OCR). In addition, he handles a range of employment-related and student-facing issues, including matters involving special education and discipline.  

As a Certified Information Privacy Professional for U.S. data, Chas advises schools and school districts on data privacy, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence governance. Clients turn to him for guidance in staying compliant with regulations in the rapidly changing world of educational technology. 

Chas brings a diverse background in education law, juvenile justice and civil rights advocacy to his practice. He previously advised families, parents and students and also served in positions as a school employee. This range of experiences gives him an insightful, multifaceted perspective that enables him to think on his feet and anticipate problems. An enthusiastic team player, Chas works quickly and efficiently to provide school districts with highly effective counsel. 

Chas is a frequent speaker at education law conferences and on education law topics, including workshops for the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) and the National Business Institute (NBI), where he shares insights on student privacy, special education, and governance. His engaging presentations provide administrators with actionable strategies to address evolving legal and educational challenges.
