I focus my practice on various areas for school districts and educational institutions, including education technology and AI, labor and employment, school district governance, and charter school issues.

My clients appreciate my direct communication style, strong work ethic, and detail-oriented approach to solving their problems. I bring a passion for public education and an enthusiasm for confronting its challenges to my work. I enjoy building relationships with my clients to help figure out what goals they want to achieve, and which path is best to achieve those goals.

Overview

John Vierra embraces the firm’s general practice mission and handles a wide variety of issues for his clients. John helps clients stay on top of new laws regarding education technology and Artificial Intelligence, and assists in reaching solutions for hot-button issues concerning employee social media and free speech. John’s expertise also consists of helping clients answer difficult labor and employment questions, assisting in school district governance such as Brown Act compliance, as well as handling charter school renewal petitions and facilities contracts.

John brings a passion for education and a personable approach to his practice. When difficult issues do arise, he enjoys problem solving and collaborating with clients to get the best possible result. Specifically, John’s practice consists of breaking down different solutions to provide clients with a route that they are most comfortable with. The firm’s ultimate goal is for school districts to run smoothly and efficiently for students and the public, and John keeps that goal at the forefront of all his legal work.

As a two-time firm Summer Associate and Law Clerk, John has experience and a strong background in a broad range of educational practice areas. This experience helps John be ready for whatever new legal questions emerge from his clients. While in law school, John also served as an Articles Editor for the San Diego International Law Journal.

After School

Outside of the office, I love to play and watch sports and am in several fantasy football leagues. I also enjoy running and hiking on a variety of San Diego trails, visiting local coffee shops, as well as reading in my spare time.
