Des Moines, IA — Fagen Friedman & Fulfrost LLP (F3 Law) is pleased to announce that Nathan “Nate” Levin has joined the firm as a Partner in its expanding Iowa office. This addition marks a continued investment in the firm’s mission to serve colleges, universities, community colleges, and K–12 school districts throughout Iowa and the Midwest with exceptional legal counsel tailored specifically to the unique needs of educational institutions.
With more than 18 years of experience in a major university setting, Nate comes to F3 Law from the University of Iowa, where he was a senior member of the General Counsel’s office. In that role, he advised on a wide range of issues including student affairs, federal compliance, campus safety, athletics, Department of Education inquiries and more. His hands-on experience makes him a trusted resource for school districts, community colleges, and universities navigating complex regulatory and operational challenges.
“Adding Nate to our team strengthens our ability to serve clients across the Midwest with smart, practical legal guidance,” said Peter Fagen, Managing Partner of F3 Law’s Iowa office. “Adding Nate brings both proven legal talent and a deep understanding of the current dynamics in the Midwest markets. This familiarity is invaluable to our clients, as we are committed to providing legal services that are mindful and thoughtful of the client’s market dynamics. He understands the realities our clients face and brings exactly the kind of leadership we want in the firm’s next phase of growth.”
Nate will advise clients on state and federal matters such as FERPA and HIPAA compliance, open meeting requirements, public records requests, and respond to audits and inquiries from myriad agencies. He will offer strategic counsel on real estate, facility use agreements, and other educational business matters. With a specialized focus on education and athletics, Nate brings a wealth of knowledge to high school and higher education clients in the areas of Title IX and athletic-related issues, including NIL contracts and NCAA rules. His recent work on the changing landscape of athletic scholarships and recruiting gives schools and student-athletes a steady hand as policies continue to evolve.
Reflecting on his new role, Nate shared, “Joining F3 Law is an exciting opportunity to continue supporting schools in a meaningful way. The firm has built a strong reputation for its work with educational institutions, and I’m eager to contribute to its mission here in Iowa and throughout the Midwest.”
Nate received his Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law and holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Iowa.
