Ali Arman Brown’s passion for education and education law translates into excellent service for her clients. As an associate in F3’s Oakland office, she partners with clients to solve problems on individual, institutional, and systemic levels in matters ranging from special education due process complaints to Title IX compliance.

Prior to law school, Ali trained to be a teacher. Her experience informs not only her expertise in education law, but also her deep appreciation and passion for the practice area. Ali brings that background into her work by viewing issues through both a legal and practical lens.

Ali began her legal career as a Judicial Law Fellow to the Honorable Joseph C. Spero in the Northern District of California. Since then, she has worked with public, private, and religious schools in a variety of matters, including student issues, special education, student discipline, Title IX, and compliance with public governance and transparency laws such as the Brown Act and the California Public Records Act (“CPRA”). Ali approaches each matter as both a problem to be solved and a story to be told. A hallmark of Ali’s work is her ability to consider and balance both the needs of the individual and the bigger picture.

Ali’s special education practice spans from issues of initial eligibility and requests for IEEs at public expense to IEP analysis and due process cases. She guides clients through every aspect of the CPRA, from the initial request to the identification and production of public records. In addition, Ali is not afraid to navigate clients through emotional areas of the law, such as Title IX matters or UCP complaints, which she approaches with both empathy and legal expertise.
