Overview

Elizabeth Kelly brings a deep connection to the educational landscape that informs her pragmatic, real-world guidance for school districts across Illinois. As a member of a family comprised of educators, counselors, school psychiatrists and a school superintendent, she cares deeply about assisting her clients in overcoming difficulties and helping children learn and thrive. She chose education law after discovering a desire to be part of the network supporting education professionals, students and the broader community.

Elizabeth’s practice encompasses labor, employment and personnel issues, day-to-day board governance and board relations management, litigation, contracts, investigations of Title IX and parent complaints, and school finance and student matters. School districts turn to her for straightforward, adept guidance in navigating thorny matters such as the impact of new technologies and social and political controversies involving students, administrators, parents and the greater communities.

A trusted partner to those she represents, Elizabeth builds strong relationships with school districts and gets to know the nuances of their unique needs, personalities and problems. She enjoys working through multifaceted issues and crafting actionable strategies to precisely fit their specific circumstances. When faced with novel or unfamiliar matters, Elizabeth digs tenaciously to uncover the information necessary to bring about successful resolutions.

With an approachable, responsive demeanor, Elizabeth puts clients at ease and instills them with confidence in the face of adversity. She serves as an active contributor to the education law community, regularly giving presentations at professional development sessions and legal briefings. Her insights on topics such as labor and employment law, student rights, school business, and board governance equip administrators with practical tools to address contemporary challenges.

After School

I enjoy watching and attending sporting events, and I’m a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, as well as the Chicago Bears, Bulls and White Sox. I also love hanging out with my husband, our toddler, and our two dogs. We like to go for walks, visit the Lincoln Park Zoo, and check out local street festivals and farmers markets.
