My mother and wife are both teachers, so I have always had deep respect for—and natural rapport with—educators. I try to approach matters without any preconceived notions. Before I start talking, I will take the time to listen to you, in order to understand your goals and the specific solutions you are hoping for.

James Fagen offers F3 Law clients the benefit of more than a decade of experience in labor relations and strategic business development.

A labor and employment generalist working across practice groups, James is available to handle a wide range of matters—from litigation work, to conducting investigations, to assisting with collective bargaining. His proficiency in business law and consulting further underpins his mission to support organizational aims while respecting the rights of individuals.

James’ previous roles on the union and plaintiff side—including Labor Relations Attorney for City Employees Associates, Lead Business Representative for IUOE Local 501, Chief Negotiator for SEIU Local 721, and Contract Administrator for SWRCC—provided him with valuable insights into fostering equitable employer-employee relations. He is now strategically applying this experience in the educational arena, from the administrative side.

Having had a seat at dozens of collective bargaining tables, James has a knack for moving matters forward and reaching consensus on even the thorniest issues. His secret, for successful dealings in the labor space and well beyond? With integrity and transparency, focusing on the common ground between the parties.

After School

Our daughter recently left home to attend college in the Midwest. We miss her and can’t wait for our next visit, but are so proud. I also recently took up boxing, which I am enjoying immensely.
