What can I solve for you?

My breadth of experience providing counsel to California public schools allows me to take a holistic approach to my clients' legal issues and offer comprehensive legal advice in the areas of labor, employment, governance and public entity law. I consider each client’s goals and priorities in developing individualized solutions to their concerns.

What's it like to work with me?

I pride myself on my ability to connect with clients and understand the complexities of their circumstances to effectively address their problems. When working with administrators, I focus on communicating my recommendations in a transparent and straightforward manner. I find that my clients appreciate my clear communication style and commitment to ensuring they receive sensible and efficient assistance.

Overview

Zuzanna Tkaczow advises clients on a broad range of labor, employment, and governance matters. Her practice is primarily focused on labor and employment law, including personnel investigations, employee discipline, state and federal discrimination and harassment claims, reasonable accommodation issues, and day-to-day advice and counsel regarding certificated and classified personnel.

Throughout her career, Zuzanna has gained experience representing clients in certificated and classified dismissal hearings, grievance arbitrations involving the interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements, and unfair practice charge proceedings before the Public Employment Relations Board. She also advises on collective bargaining issues, disciplinary matters, and strategies for minimizing legal risk while maintaining a safe and effective school environment. Zuzanna has developed a reputation as a trusted and impartial investigator in matters involving employee misconduct allegations, student issues, and athletics.

In addition to her labor and employment practice, Zuzanna advises clients on all aspects of compliance under the California Public Records Act and the Brown Act, providing practical guidance on governance and transparency. She has represented school district clients in litigation arising under both statutes. She has also prepared briefs on behalf of her clients in employment litigation cases, including wrongful termination and negligent hiring matters. This experience informs her practical and proactive approach to counseling clients.

While in law school, Zuzanna served as Senior Editor for the Northeastern University Law Review. She also represented an incarcerated client before the Massachusetts Parole Board through the Prisoners’ Rights Clinic and gained additional litigation experience as a summer law clerk with the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office and as a legal intern with a public entity law firm.

Before attending law school, Zuzanna lived and studied abroad, an experience that strengthened her ability to navigate complex issues from multiple perspectives and effectively serve clients with diverse needs and interests.

After School

On a school night, you can find me online shopping, cooking or enthralled in an episode of the Real Housewives (Salt Lake City or Beverly Hills) at home.  I also love to hike Runyon Canyon, try new restaurants or visit my tried and true spots and play Texas Hold 'Em on the weekends.  Every few weeks, I try to make it to a concert or music festival, and I don't leave my house without my AirPods.  My current genre rotation includes house, R&B, hip hop and dubstep!
