What can I solve for you?

I can help you navigate the numerous complex legal issues you face as an educational institution in a thoughtful, practical way that allows you to focus on your main charges: educating students, keeping them safe, and helping them launch into successful lives and careers.

What's it like to work with me?

I make it a point to listen and understand each individual client’s specific and subjective needs. I strive to understand your perspective and desired outcome. I won’t simply recite the applicable law but will provide thoughtful and practical options for reaching desired outcomes. I’m a collaborative member of your team.

Overview

In a legal career spanning more than 30 years, Daniel Ojeda has held positions of increasing scope and responsibility in university, in-house corporate and law firm environments, with particular expertise in higher education law. He generates creative solutions to challenging legal issues such as free speech,  Title IX and investigations, crisis management, contracts, collective bargaining, labor and employment, governance and board issues, privacy and record access, public security and policing, discrimination, sexual harassment, DEI initiatives, athletics, and faculty and student affairs.

Daniel offers unique in-house experience in both the public and private education sectors, representing institutions of all sizes including large state universities, mid-size private institutions, and small regional colleges. He previously served as University Counsel and a member of the human resources team for the California State University (the largest public educational institution in the country), providing advice and counsel to eight universities within the CSU system. He also represented Chapman University in Orange, CA as Senior Associate General Counsel, where he provided legal advice in all areas of higher education law. Previous stints at other well-known education and labor/employment firms compliment his experience and allow him to offer his clients a valuable well-rounded perspective.

Daniel not only understands clients’ experiences, challenges and needs, but also shares their passion for education and their mission: preparing students for the best possible future.

After School

I’m active in endurance sports and am currently training for a 100-mile bike ride and an ultra-marathon. I also enjoy scuba diving, and love traveling with my son to tropical diving destinations.
